      STMB   01/22/2017

Sorry for the outage. The board went down for repairs on January 5th, and we didn't expect to be out for a full 16 days.  STMB is using a default skin, as you can see, and that will probably be the case for a few weeks.  Meanwhile, the board is working better than it ever has before.

whats your favorite release from the "WU TANG CLAN"??

37 posts in this topic

I would say GZA'S "Liquid Swords." Listening to that album is like watching "Fight Club," you always find something new. I love smoking up to that album

i dont think i have an all time favorite wu album. i have the most memories from cuban links and liquid swords. but then i'll get stuck on return of the 36 for a while. but now i cant get enough of the ghostgface albums...... all of them. i've listened to pretty toney and fishscale back to back like 5 times this week.

it's gotta be 36 chambers, one of the few lp's i can always put on anytime, anyday, an lp with no need to skip.

I like to remember classic tracks rather than albums so...

That guitar riff in the beginning of 4th Chamber - Liquid Swords still gives me chills every time I hear it. Gza said in an interview that he opens every show he does with that and the crowd goes nuts.

I will always love Guillotine Swords and Glaciers of Ice on Cuban Linx they both contained the same sample anyone know it? bum bim bam bum bum huhuhuhuhu

That "First time ever you sucked my..." intro on Return to the 36 is still a smoked out favorite.

The Nautilus sample for Daytona 500 is another one of my favorites.

36 chambers...

but damn in the late 90's i swore everyone was putting WU in front of their name to get their albums out the door...

remember GP WU?

overall gotta be Liquid swords, both RZA nad GZA just killed it, then for me Cuban but the second half of ODB is insane its so good.

anyhow, basically 93-97 is the reason RZa is one of my all time fave producers.

remember GP WU?

Yes, by the way, who the fuck was GP WU and were they in any way affiliated with the real Wu at all?

Man, Wu's most popular years always take me back. They really got me on to underground hip-hop, in general. I was infatuated with their whole style. I remember skating in DC and throwing up Wu W's where ever I could.

I'm tellin' you, I must've put 1000 W's up from the shady grove stop on the redline down to union station...then over to china town...I was addicted to putting up pristine Wu W's.

Liquid Swords, Iron Man and Only Built For Cuban Links....36 was the shit, so was Wu Tang Forever, I hated Forever when it first came out but now it has me eating my words.

Best track they did was Triumph....all fire verses, no chorus, no bull shit...amazing beat....Triumph all the way.

"I bomb atomically/socrates' philosophies and high prophecies can't define how I be droppin' these/ mockeries/ lyrically perform armed robberies/ flee wit' the lottery/possibly they spotted me/ battle scared shogun/ explosion, when my pen hits/ tremendous/ ultra violet shine/ blind phorensics/ I inspect you through the future/ see millenium/ killa bee's sold 50 gold 60 platinum/shacklin the masses wit' drastic rap tactics/...." or someshit like that.

"The saga continues! Wu Tang! Wu Tang!"

nice quotation, very nice indeed, 10 points for style, twenty for memory, 30 for execution.

Stop! JUdge!

no chance, there were more that just dropped the WU in front of whatever group or person it was. I should of stopped with Killa Army, but back in 98 i bought everything that had a WU in front of it.

you use to skate in DC around 98? freedom park?

putting up WU on the redline... ah the redline, that goes hand in hand with AUP Wall of Fame.

In this order:

Liquid Swords

Cuban Links

Return to 36...

36...

Gravediggaz' Diary...

Tical

Killarmy's first album

Bobby digi

Supreme Clientele

Rza was just too good 10yrs ago. The beats he made in the early-mid 90's cannot be matched by any other producer ever. No one has ever made that many hot beats in that short a span...Not even Primo or Dre...Not for that many albums. I am not saying he is the best producer of all time if you take everybody at their peak. But i still think that the Rza is the best MC/Producer if you think in numbers of ALL TIME. Mid 90's=best era in hip hop...

Yo? You talking about that graff' wall of fame? If that's what you are talking about, that shit was the dope. I looked at that like mecca or somthing when I was a kid. Yeah I fucked around in Freedom Park, and I really like some parts of China Town. Always hit up the food court at union station for jamican food and free re-fills.

Let's see, I was from Germantown, MD so I always skated at Seneca Valley High School cause it was so damn close...Reece Forbes used to come up there and rip it up sometimes.

I'd catch the 62 Bus to shady Grove and ride the redline into DC, baby...all day. I'd skip school and go to 12" Records in Dupont to get records and mixtapes and shit...I think it's called Record Hut or some shit now.
