Personally, it's biiter-sweet. On one end, Affleck is a part of the Batman team. On the other end, he's acting and not directing. I knew from the moment I finished watching "Gone Baby Gone" that his place was behind the camera, not in front of it. So while I think he MAY do a decent Bruce Wayne (but... come on, Bale has won't be topped by him in a two piece suit), I'm very wary of him as Batman. This being for two reasons. First: how much more physical can his batman be over Bale's when he's in suit? Will he be kicking at all? Will SCOTT ADKINS in fact be his stunt double??? Second: What will he sound like wearing the mask? He has to mask his voice. That was something Bale did right. For as much shit as he got for that voice, THAT is the voice in the comics. Alfred mentions it in Blind Justice, and Tim Drake mentions it to Jean-Paul Valley in Knightquest.

ALSO: The way the suit looks will make a huge impact on whether or not Affleck will be taken seriously and be given a fair shot.

I'd like to hear your opinions on whether or not you think he'll play a good Caped Crusader and your reasoning why.

It bothers me. But I am not sure why. Keaton is the only true Batman.

Affleck as Batman.... Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit... They may as well have cast Ben Stiller.. This is Clooney/Batman, Lazenby/Bond type territory. Just when we thought the DC franchise might have a renaissance with the decent but not great Superman reboot, they squeeze this one out on our heads. Prove me wrong, for the love of Alfred prove me wrong....

I don't see why not. Affleck is a great actor.
Also, remember this?

Yeah... I rest my case.

I don't remember that, nor will I be trawling through it... I'm not saying that Affleck is a bad actor (in response to this particular thread), I just don't think it's good casting.. I hope to the Almighty Vinyl God that I'm wrong... But I just can't picture it.. Unless we're talking about comedy 60's camp Batman.. If so then yes, Michael Cera can be Robin, that would really cap it off.....

im hoping its a decent action movie by the time warner bros is done with it. should be a great start at the DC crossover weve been seeing marvel doing. with the justice league movie in the works should be cool to get a glimpse of the epicness.

afleck is a bulky dude. i wouldnt say he looks agile though...

Ben Affleck is not really a big enough blockbuster actor for this franchise; people already complaining. This clearly should have been sexy ass Gerard Butler or Colin Farrell

It's gonna be a mistake even on the off-chance Ben Affleck can pull off a decent Bruce Wayne. Because not only are we gonna have to get used to ANOTHER version of batman 2 or 3 years after we've had Bale as batman for a decade, it's not even an exclusively Batman film. We're not gonna have enough time in the film to establish and get used to the Affleck Batman before Superman gets thrown into the mix and the (most likely ridiculous, ludicrous) plot kicks in. It's gonna fall victim to the same shit that happens every time they try to cram more larger-than-life characters into a movie than it can handle. Avengers aside (even though I don't really care for the Avengers).

Batman's gonna lose all of his pathos and become a cardboard cutout again ala clooney (and ala the new superman in my opinion), you can't go from 3 character-study-intensive batman films starring one guy to a crazy, action-filled, super-power-filled demolition derby starring another guy without losing all that Christopher Nolan worked so hard to bring to the series. It's not gonna translate over with Affleck suddenly taking up the reigns.

^ Yo man, Supes and Bats have been working hand in hand since the old World's Finest days. If the writers use some good source material from either the WF or the Superman/Batman title that ran during the 00's then this movie has the possibility to not suck.

Casting DareDevil as the Dark Knight isn't really a sign that this is going to end well though...

I am interested in their basic relationship. I know nothing of it. I think they are friends who fight over Wonder Woman?? No idea.

I did see this tho.

This is why I say probably instead of definitely. There's a minute chance they'll get it right in the screenplay.
maybe.

Affleck can do his thing when it's the right role, but Bruce Wayne? I don't think I could really buy it. He plays a good dumb/tough guy-with-a-heart-of-gold, been doing that well since Good Will Hunting. He can even pull off an emotional scene now. but any time I see him cast as like...a character that probably had to go to law school or has deep emotional trauma (that didn't take place in south boston), I just don't buy it. And I'm not even an Affleck hater persay. But Affleck as the erudite, dark, scarred, Bruce Wayne? I sense impending Daredevil deja vu.

Batman is probably the easiest character to play ever, very two dimensional, it should be easy as fuck for Affleck and everyone is going to give him unnecessary praise, since he's going to try harder, after all of the bad press.

I'mma stick to my guns on this one. They worked with poor direction and scripts (Although Val Kilmer never bothered me). Clooney didn't even fit the role and I honestly think they picked him because of his popularity and slight similarity to Adam West.

Beiber is signed on as well. I'm suspecting he was cast as the Carrie Kelley Robin.

First, Alfred will poison Beiber, then bitch slap Affleck because he can,
and finally tap him some Bat-Girl while Cat Woman watches from the window sill.

Think about it they should of used Tom Hardy who was Bane. He can pull off that dark side that is really needed, hell even Dwayne The Rock Johnson would be a better choice.
