Damn. I remember recording these episodes on VHS tapes off of Toonami back during its first run and impressing all my friends by being able to show them when he final turns Super Saiyan.

could you expound on what that is? i've always wanted to get into more anime, but i have no clue where to begin with it...all i've really watched is DBZ, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Monster Rancher (i jumped on a lot of trends as a kid), and more recently Desert Punk and Miyazaki films.

Yore going in the right direction my friend. I'm just now realizing that I grew up with heavy Japanese influences via sega and 80's cartoons...but akira is the shit. I say buy the DVD then read the novels on a whim and you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you're into cyber punk/post apocalyptic stuff then this will definitely be a milestone experience.

The shows you've seen are a little less darker and mature than the manga/anime I'm used to but i think you're asking for new things so....Here's a link to more akira info, but if you want more recommendations I can send you a list of films/novels that I and others fucking love.

what are your thoughts on FL/CL?
i've seen it once, but it's really hard understanding all the symbolism the first time around so i'm gonna watch it again soon.

Watch death note, you'll love it, only like 20 eps. Good fantasy, detective and some horror

Have fun

FLCL is really good, especially the soundtrack. One of the best parts is when they go manga and talk about how the studio says it costs too much animate that way. More recent stuff to check out would be Attack on Titan, Blast of Tempest, and Fate Zero. They're all free on CrunchyRoll…

I'll explain

So the original dragon ball and dragon ball z were made by the same guy

However dragon ball gt was made by some other people because the guy who made the original shows only does small projects

About 2 months ago the guy who made the original wrote the story for battle of gods. The new movie is part of the dragon ball z series. The movie is set after the world tournament and before the buu saga. Goku fights an Egyptian god called bills. During the movie goes to super Saipan god. He has red hair instead of gold

So there ya go

It has been rumoured that a second battle of gods movie will come out. And possibly a new series
