love that el michels affair, their lp is hot. Just wish that concert of them backing the wu was a lot better on the levels.

The seller knows the deal:
"The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning the real thing."

details on everyone's specific setup? table brand/model, mixer brand/model, etc. looking to start buying some stuff and just wanting to know where to start. start with one table and mixer or two tables and mixer? what kind of speakers do you guys use? any help is appreciated.

buy what you can afford, as has been said many times before, you can have all the kit in the world, but if you ain't got an ear/skillz, then it really don't matter. I'm not sayin my beats are any good, but i manage to make stuff between my 50 turntables and mixer, my 10 amp, my 50 zoom sampletrak, and a cracked version of cubase.

Once you exceed the limitations of your equipment, then upgrade, chances are you'll get the same kinda price you paid in the first place anyways (as long as you don't buy new in the first place). You don't necessarily need all the 'top-line' gear, or what your 'favourite producer' uses. Keep it lo-fi and budget, unless money is no worry of course. All i know is some people i listen to were sampling pieces of cracked vinyl they found in the streets, hittin' play record, no need to spend a fortune...

i dont get why a CD is so collectable - it's a shitty little piece of plastic thats easily reproduced. especially with itunes and i pods being so popular - i thought everyone would stop buying CDs. vinyl's a little different because it's so physical and tactile. plus the covers bigger.

i've got doomsday on CD and vinyl - could i sell my CD for loads then or what?? i never listen to the CD

Fondle 'em records pressed it once... First pressing. Due to demand they repressed it.

Other companies stared pressing many years later.

there have been some bootlegs around on ebay, but i dunno what you mean by 'recent re-issue', the subverse was way back, and then the re-issue was 'fondle em'? Can't remeber, but that was time ago as well. The re-issue hasn't been done yet. I'm not aware of a 'recent re-issue'

Yo yo yo, word word word!

This is my first post. Getting the message board back up and running was most definitely a good idea.

Tell you what, I'm sick of being (in hip hop terms) stuck in the middle of nowhere with no chance of finding any decent local rappers or producers for collab. I've got loads of beats that are crying out for a decent MC. Was scratching over one tonight, has Alice coltrane piano and Dvorak orcestral samples. Can you attach Mp3s on here?? I'm up for some Foreign exchange type Sh*t. I'm a Northern Irish guy living in Glasgow, Scotland. Chances of me finding a decent MC over here are slim to nil! Although Music scene in Glasgow is good but its mainly alt/indie-rock (anyone heard of Mogwai??). Anyways, heres couple of pics of my bedroom setup:

Attached File  decks.jpg   185.95KB   227 downloadsAttached File  cubase_on_desk.jpg   169.98KB   244 downloads

I'll post some beats if its possible.

I threw all of my junk on the desk for a pic a while back... it's looks a hot mess right now. I've got some crappy Numark turntable, I usually just record in my vinyl, burn it to CD, and mess with it on the CDJ800s. For software, I use ReCycle (for chopping samples), Reason (mostly for the synths), and Garage Band (for recording the final product).
