I went to the local record store (LRS) and picked up a record by Stephane Grappelli for $3. I went up to the counter and then thought, sh!t, I spend $20 to $50 on the internet with no hesitation, yet I only have a $3 record in hand. I went back and grabbed a $10 Art Blakey record (which they gave to me for 8). It was just weird that I spend more on the net than the local shop and I LOVE the local shop. Looking at weird records in person is better... plus they play stuff I don't know.

Funny I have am unopened copy of that Blakely record (paid full price $10.99). I purchased it back in 06 and just enjoyed looking at the cover.

I spent a lot on records though the years so I made a pact w myself not to purchase until it all evens out. I've been digging only twice since and was able to control my impulse to buy.

I just got sucked into a pre-order again. I'm a sucker for the limited edition colored vinyl. Interesting that they sold 59 copied today out of the 200 available. The opening drum beat on Loose Boodie sold me.

Found a bunch of dope records today but one stands out from the bunch. Some self titled prog record by Catapilla. Nasty guitar and sax jazz fusion. Mind blown in my apartment tonight.

wow, got another one that everyone was sleeping on! I love looking at the $1 records and noticing a familiar name, then after I buy it, realizing it is gold! This one has a different version of something Madlib sampled of Advanced Jazz. Coltrane's name was on the cover and I had never heard of the leader before...

Yeah man he is awesome. I got turned on to him in high school via Stan Getz. His 1970 album Tide is a personal favorite of mine. For some reason I associate his sound with Gabor Sazbo a lot.

right, one of the few of theirs that has eluded me, now i just need the first one

i actually got that at an estates sale, i went to a different one earlier that morning and came up with nothing and was bummed, then saw a sign for this other one, but it didn't start for an hour, i drove by and nobody was there so i figured i would waste time and head down to this junk shop i've come up at before (nothing but junk this time though), got back with 15 minutes to spare but there was already a sign out that said open so i headed in, one dude was in there and had 2 or 3 records, but i pulled that JB quick along with two earlier of his (apollo 1 and pure dynamite), as well as the new birth and then some joe tex, jr walker, marvin gaye type stuff, was hyped thinking i was first besides that one dude, i paid and asked if anybody else bought records and she said there was one other person in before i got there and he had bought like 40 albums, needless to say my atttitude changed and immediately had me wondering what i missed, especially cause everything i had was more on the beat up side so it was probably what he wasn't feeling because of the grade, if only i had just killed time out front instead of heading to that junk shop.....

Good come up CBH! Next time feel free to just knock on the door even if you are early; most people would be willing to let you come in because they want to get rid of as much stuff as possible. That's probably what the dude before you did.
