Beat Konducta Vol. 5 & 6 (Dil Cosby & Dil Withers Suite) are two of my personal favourite records, felt like an unspoken Jaylib collab in my opinion.

the obvious answer would've been EVERYTHING

agreed. but it hurts me that it's not on wax and that the instrumental lp didn't have ALL the tracks from both albums. Why oh why?

I'm not gonna do a huge list of all the madlib stuf I've got.

but if I type madlib in the search field on iTunes i get 1364 songs with a running time of 2 days, 22 hours, 41 mins, 50 secs.

That's all stuff i have in physical form. And still there's so much i need to get, and so little money :-(

I feel you, but I think its dope that at least The Woman Behind Me Remix ended up on the instrumental wax, plus some of the 12" have a couple remix instrumentals as well. I'd love to have vinyl copies of this remix album as well as Oh No's 'Ghettodes' remix album of Guilty's ST debut. Until that day I'll at least appreciate the fact that they tossed us a bone by putting GS's 'What To Do' on that first Serato collab.

I don't do any of that digital dj stuff, so as much as i wanted some of the tracks on those serato discs, there's just no way i could justify the expenditure. Got to admit that the MED track with Steve Arrington very nearly clinched it on the last one though. And to be honest the Donut Shop one really made me wish I was minted, such lovely packaging and those beats, those damn beats.

Yeah man, still wishing I had copped Donut Shoppe but at the time $35 was just too much for me.

back on topic, i think the Madlib stuff I like the best would have to be the hip hop remix albums. I mean, I love all his stuff and it was the YNQ stuff that for me really set him apart from all other producers and made me take him seriously, but with those remix albums there's always something new to hear, they're something like audio lunatic asylums. I don't think I could choose between Mind Fusion 4, 1980s Saturday Morning Edition and MMS 12/13 (even if those last 2 are a bit skit-heavy). That said I still can't say I'm totally familiar with some of his later Jazz stuff. I listen and listen but always end up zoning out a bit.

Lootpack's Soundpieces: Da Antidote

Soundpieces was my introduction to Madlib and remains the barometer for quality through his collective output.  As an MC, he was at his peak during this era and, in my opinion, his beats have never been more raw.  This record is without doubt amongst the Mt. Rushmore of underground/ indie Hip-Hop efforts of all time.

Speaking of which, DJ Romes deserves way more props than he's ever gotten.  He's got some of the nastiest cuts I've ever heard on wax.

yeah I know it's a classic and all that, but Wildchild was always a major obstacle to my enjoyment of Lootpack. Not the worst MC ever by a long way but personally I just never really felt his style. Sorry, I know that's sacriledge right there but there you go. Romes is ill though.

There's no sleeping on that first Remixes EP either though. short but so sweet and cohesive.

short

was my only problem with it, pure gold otherwise.

edit: in fact that Mayor remix on the second pressing/issue is one of my favourites of all the remixes ever. So dramatic.

Favorite album is Unseen, then Further and everything earlier..... but those are my top two

I actually got out of place at one point trying to mimic him and moving away from my simpler style... he's def got a lot of switch ups and ish going on.... big motivation for keeping the listeners interest
