How many of your favorite rappers have musical, distinctive voices? I've heard a few underground rappers who consistently deliver their brainy rhymes without any individuality; I'd much rather read their lyrics than hear 'm spit 'em. Why leave music to the producer? Maybe these dudes would have a wider audience if they cared more about sounding interesting.

So who are your picks? And are there any popular dudes you like?

yah. i hear what you are sayin. AS a producer and a performer I always adapt my voice to the track, (im getting into telling others (who perform on my tracks) to do the same).
anyhow, back in the day (all the last century) a producer usually told or had a big hand in how a singer sung. that was one of the many roles a producer had.
I would (if the producer is good) like to see a return to that.

As for distictive voices,
obvioulsy Q Tip,
Roc (boot camp)
B Real...
Meth
ODB

i think we are kinda off topic a bit because everyone has a disticntive flow because everyones voice is differnet and everyone flows at minimum slightly different.

as far as distinctive/musical
(when you say "musical" I think sing songy)

Slim Kid Tre
50 Cent
Young Joc ( i like this guy)
Oh and Nelly too, (he's awwwwwwome)

Eh, by "musical" I don't mean half-rap/half-singing. I'm talking about a voice that is... the opposite of a plainly spoken voice.

Hm, I'm talking about rappers who have such a unique, cool sounding voice that you could just listen to the sound of their voice and still be engaged. It's almost like no matter what they say in a song you dig how they're saying it. Like ODB usually talked about nonsense, but it's the way that he said those things that was so cool.

I see.

Well, Im gonna have to go with ODB,
actually Dilla was one of the illest, who usually wasnt saying too much but you knew what he was saying and the way he said, (hitting at certain ponts, vocal tone all that)

Im gonna have to go with dilla one of my all time favorites for sure.
