my formula for mental heatlh:

lower your expectations, prepare to be disappointed, and realize that life is a constant series of letdowns and sadness.

works great!

that's ACTUALLY concrete advise. The world always mistreats its inhabitants in one way or another. People's homes burn down after they pull a 2nd mortgage, newborn babies are mawled by family dogs, spouses cheat, 911.

You just gotta remember two quotes that oddly enough, BATMAN has taught us:
-"Why do we fall? So we learn how to pick ourselves back up"
AND
-"The night is darkest before dawn, and I promise, the dawn is coming"

alot of people also should do a reality check every once in a while, like look at how other people are doing, theres alot of stories that make me feel very good about me and my accomplishments and life in general, you have to remember that alot of people are always doing alot worse than you and your life...

everything shouldnt be taken too seriously because "when your sense of humour runs out you can start being very concerned"

perspective...

that's an important one. if you are feeling too hopeless or depressed, punch yourself in the face and realize how lucky you are to live in The First World.

then go use that emotion to make some art.
